Since the 70s skateboarding has undergone a strong development. In the early days being called a short entertaining trend, the sport is now facing its first Olympic competition. Although skaters compete against each other at such events or other contests and therefore fight for points, the core of skateboarding stands for togetherness instead of compete against each other. You ride in a session with friends and support each other, and you have to fight with yourself first and foremost, rather than with an opponent of the opposing team.

It is not about who does the highest treflip, but about failures, falling down and especially getting up again. Sounds like a phrase from a newspaper article, but everyone who has landed his first kickflip knows exactly what is meant by that.
